If I include my bank overdraft in my bankruptcy, what will happen to my bank account? Will they close it or just stop the overdraft privilege? Would it be better to just go out of that bank and start with another one before I begin the process? I also have a VISA card and chequing account with another bank. I am including the card in the bankruptcy so what will likely happen to the bank account?
HOW LONG DOES A BANKRUPTCY LAST ON A PERSON'S PROFILE?
I owe a couple of pay day loan companies money. and they are calling constaly. and i can't afford to pay them. how can i arrange to fix this
I am 23 years old, and am on Income Assistance In BC. Can I claim bankruptcy still? Do I need to inform them of this?
I have been separated for 2 years and left with a huge debt incured by my ex wife. However, I had been paying down the debt for the past two years and doing fine doing it. I decided to file a consumer proposal so that it could be managed by the Trustee. Once the proposal had been agreed to and filed, all the debts in my ex wife's name was not recognized by the creditors and the interest is continuing to accumulate on the debts that she is responsible for. I am going to sell my house and deal with the debts and pay them all of. The total debt in my name only is approx 30,000 and my ex wife about 35,000. I really do not think that the the trustee company with whom I had filed the connsumer proposal with is working for my best interest on my behalf and I have very little confidence in that trustee company based in Edmonton. My question is can I legally cancel the proposal agreement and negotiate with the creditors personally and pay off both outstanding debts of both my ex wife and I?
When you are currently in bankruptcy, do you have to declare all income, even if my parents
borrow me approx 1,000.00 or more every month,
or so to help me pay for my every day expenses.
My net income is 2,400.oo, and the trustee takes
700.00 from me, and this makes it difficult to
live on 2,400.00.
Also, my parents bought a second house that I
moved into, I only pay utilities. Would this
be considered living with my parents, even if
they own it, and I live separate from them.
Thankyou
I am going to go bankrupt this month or next. Does it make any difference if I wait until January? I know I will have to make out an income tax return for the current year of the bankruptcy. If I do it in December then I will have to make out the return for 2007 as the current year. But if I wait til January then 2008 will be counted as the current year, right? And I think I have to make one out for the previous year. Is that true? I'm mixed up. I would like to get this in process asap. ALSO, I was behind on my rent for 4 months and I am cashing in a life insurance to catch it up or I won't have a place to live. Will this be looked upon as preferential by other creditors? I have to have a place to live. I'm just lucky my landlord has been so understanding because of our illnesses and family deaths. I didn't realize I could cash in that life insurance otherwise I wouldn't have gotten behind in it at all. My bankruptcy will be 5 credit cards, a bank overdraft and taxes only. I have no other debts for cars or anything. What is your opinion on the bank overdraft part? Will it be better if I don't claim that and try to work with it separately?
My mother has recently declared bankruptcy. I would like to issue an additional credit card of mine for emergency cases.
Is there any legal issue with getting a secondary credit card for a person who declared bankruptcy? Of course any charges made on the card are still my responsibility (my credit account).
