My friend was involved in a motor vehicle accident nearly 2 years ago which insurance did not cover. He has recently been sued for damages ($25,000); he also has some other credit debts to pay off. He is considering declaring bankruptcy and was wondering if it would absolve him of the debt he owes the people who sued him.

When Christmas gifts are purchased on credit cards. Can you be made to ask for them back, if in the future you declare bankruptcy?
In Nov. 1999 I signed a promisary note stating that interest and principle were payable within 30 days of written notice. In June 2006 I signed an acknowledgement letter reconfirming the note signed in 1999. Once per year since 2002 my friend has asked for the money but he agreed that the money due would be extended for another year. When does the statuatary limitations begin in this example? I lost my house to foreclosure in 2001/2002. I understand the 2 year statute of limitations. I have also read that the acknowledgement letter, although signed in june 2006 may be invalid on the basis that the lender has repeatedly extended my payment deadline by one year for at least 2 to 4 times. Also, I have read that the statute of limitations begins with the date of the contract signing since it is a demand loan. What is your perspective ... please!

I have over $35000 owing in credit cards/credit line and close to $18000 in student loans. I understand that student loans cannot be part of the proposal or bankruptcy, but I am considering above options for my credit card debt.
My questions are:
1) Will filing bankruptcy affect my current job?
2) Will filing bankruptcy affect my previous pension (locked-in)?
3) If I decide to move out of Canada, will I be able to quit my current job and leave the country, if I am in the process of bankruptcy/proposal?
Thank you.

My X has done everything in her power to drag this out, make me spend thousands on lawyer fees and pay tons of bills. Well now I'm broke, my credit is distroyed and I am facing declaring bankruptcy. What is my recourse against her for doing this and what happens if you declare bankruptcy during a divorce?
