Question:

I am considering filing for bankruptcy. In the meantime, how many creditors can issue a garnishment on my wages at one time? I have a wife and 2 minor children as dependants. How much can be taken per month by creditors with a garnishment? Thank you for your answer and advice.

Answer:

In Alberta, under a garnishment Order, you are allowed to keep $800 for you and $200 for each of your dependants per month. Creditors can have 1/2 of what's left.
