I am an AB resident with a Canada student loan. I am thinking about claiming bankruptcy due to finacial hardships. My Canada Student Loan has now been sent to collections. Does this mean I am now able to include it in my debt(bankruptcy)? I have only been out of school for 5 yrs. And I know all about the 10 yr law. Just wondering if a student loan that has been sent to collections is now under a different status. Is the Student loan and now just condsidered debt?

A student loan less than 10 years old survives a bankruptcy, regardless of whether it's a bank, collection agency or the government who is collecting for it.
