If I declare bankruptcy but I am anticipating receiving an amount of money from a personal injury claim, does that affect my retaining the amount received from the personal injury claim? Thanks.

If the settlement is solely for pain and suffering the Trustee cannot attach to the funds. If a portion of the settlement is for loss of property and wages then the Trustee can attach to those funds.
