Question:  

Can I claim bankruptcy if I am a landed immigrant and have been in Alberta for 5 years, I have my own business will that be affected, I am a self employed massage therapist, I do not own but rent, the money I make is my only income, my overhead is my rent and oils only.... How do I find out if my line of credit is secured or not?

Answer:  

Yes, you can claim bankruptcy if you have been here for 5 years. You can continue your business while you are bankrupt if you are self-employed. To find out if your line of credit is secured you can ask the lender who gave you the credit.
