Question:

While I'm in bankruptcy my GST credits are going to the Trustee and I'm wondering once I receive my automatic absolute discharge, who notifies the Government of the change? Do I have to send the Government a copy of my release form? or is that done by the Trustee? Thank-you!

Answer:

After a bankrupt is discharged, the Trustee must complete the administration and apply for his discharge. The Trustee discharge is what removes the bankruptcy from your record at the Government. Until then, GST will continue to be sent to your Trustee.
