Question:

I work for a financial institution and am in the unfortunate position of having to declare personal bankruptcy. I have a $5000 outstanding credit card balance owing to a credit card given to me by the same financial institution I am employed with. Can I be terminated because of this?

Answer:   We don't believe the financial institution can terminate you for including their credit card debt in a bankruptcy. We have had several bankrupts who work for banks and they have not been terminated. You may want to ask your Human Resources department to be absolutely certain.
