Question:

I am not a Canadian permanent resident, and I hold worker visa to enter Canada. After several years working here, I got fired from my job. Because no more job, I am thinking go back home. I have some credit cards here. Currently, I have quite a lot of bills that need to be paid. Unfortunately, I can't afford to pay them anymore. So, if I just leave Canada, will those credit card companies come after me when I am in my country? Will this affect me getting into Canada in the future? Also, would you please tell me what would happen to me if I just leave Canada without paying the credit card bills? Thank you.

Answer:   If you don't pay your debts, creditors can pursue you wherever you may be living, even if it is not in Canada. Leaving debts unpaid is not a reason for you to be denied entry as a visitor into Canada. If you do move to another country you could make arrangements to pay your Canadian creditors from there.
