Question:

I was wondering how soon after signing the forms to become bankrupt will it show on the credit bureau(s)? Also, how long do you have to wait after declaring bankruptcy before you are allowed to apply for credit? Thank you.

Answer:

You would have to ask the Credit Bureaus how long it takes for a bankruptcy to appear on a credit record. You can apply for credit anytime during a bankruptcy as long as you disclose to the creditor that you are in bankruptcy. Failure to do so is an offence under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.
