Question:

Hi,just wondering if a landed immigrant wants to file a bankruptcy, will it affect his/her citizenship delay by any means?

Would he/she face any problem from Citizenship and Immigration Canada?

Can an individual leave the country just after filing the bankruptcy or does he/she have to stay for any certain period?

Answer:   As far as I am aware, filing bankruptcy will not affect your citizen status. However, I suggest you talk to your lawyer for final clarification.

Yes, an individual can leave Canada as long as you do all of the duties required under the Act. If you do not, you will not be discharged and your debt will survive your bankruptcy. This means your creditors can pursue you again.
