For my parents I put a bunch of credit cards in my name for
them to use 10 years ago which they promised to pay off years ago -
however all cards are maxed out (in my name but I don't have them, they
do) and recently purchased a $5,000 stereo with a boyfriend who left me
and took the stereo with him. Which I am supposed to make payments on
since its in my name but I cannot afford. So that company is after me.
Also purchased a truck with him which I do have in my possession but I'm
struggling to pay. And now I'm on a fixed income (maternity leave) and
can hardly afford rent let alone diapers. I also have numerous
outstanding bills the boyfriend left me with that are being threatened
to go into collections. Would I qualify for bankruptcy? Or what other
options are there?

Yes, you would qualify for bankruptcy. With limited income while on
maternity leave your options are also very limited. I'd suggest you talk
to a Trustee about your options. We offer a free, confidential first
appointment to debtors. You can reach us in Alberta at 310-8888.
