Question:

I've seen several questions outlining the difficulty in obtaining a chequing account following bankruptcy. I'm wondering why this is so. What happened to these people's original bank accounts? Are they siezed or closed as part of the bankruptcy?

Answer:   Often the bank they are using will close their accounts when they get the bankruptcy notice. We suggest that people open a new account with a bank they do not have a debt with.
