My daughter has been approached by her credit card's finacial
department and they said that they would be garnishing her wages if she didn't come up with $1600.00 or they would take her to litigation. If she claimed bankruptcy would she be better off?

Bankruptcy would stop a creditor from suing and garnishing your
daughter's wages. If she only owes $1,600, however, she may want to
contact Credit Counselling Services of Alberta at 1-800-294-0076 about
the Orderly Payment of Debt program. That would allow her an opportunity
to pay off the full debt over 4 years without being harassed by
creditors.
