I owe the Alberta Government (Alberta Health Care)18000 dollars. They have a lien on my property which I own jointly with the wife. Have tried paying them, but every time I do they add another writ on the place. There is no way to catch up. What is the staue of limitations on the debt? Or what is the best course of action against them?

Generally, there is no statute of limitations on government debts. You may wish to consider working out a plan of settlement with Alberta Health, or doing a proposal or a bankruptcy. A Trustee such as Collins Barrow can help you deal with this debt. For a free consultation regarding your options, call us toll-free at 310-8888 in Alberta or check the local yellow pages for a Trustee in your area.
