Question:

My ex-husband and I have been divorced for 5 years, 9 months. I recently found out he filed bankruptcy (about 3 months ago) on an unsecured credit card that was held jointly when we were married. In the divorce decree it states he was to be responsible for the debt; however, I've heard since we were both card holders the credit card company could come to me to collect this debt. Is there a statue of limitations that might have expired since he did make the payments for 5 plus years or should I expect to have my savings cleared out with no notification? Thanks for your advice.

The Statute of Limitations may apply but you'll need to ask a lawyer about the time period. Before a bank scoops your account they should be notifying you of the debt and asking you to pay it.
