Question:

Is there an actual piece of legislation stating that once a consumer proposal is completed, credit reports should be updated. Are you familar with Ontario Law and if not would you be able to put me in contact with someone who might be able to help me with this matter. I am assuming Consumer Proposals are governed by provincial law. Where do I go to get the correct information regarding actual written law?

Answer:   Consumer Proposals fall under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA), which is federal legislation. The BIA does not address credit reporting. Credit bureaus and credit reports do not fall under any legislation at this time. If you have a problem or concern you could try talking to the provincial office of Consumer and/or Municipal affairs, who regulate collectors, etc.
