We are considering bankruptcy. We have a second mortgage on our home and are wanting to sell our house so we can pay that off and then move into another home by porting our current mortgage or assuming a mortgage. Can we do this while we are claiming bankruptcy or do we have to wait until after is is discharged?

You are able to sell your house and assume another mortgage while bankrupt. I'd check with your mortgage company to see if they will let you port your current first mortgage while bankrupt.
