Question:

My boyfriend lost his job due to his mother being ill and him needing to take her to the doctor or emergency room. He had no recourse but to file bankruptcy, chapter 7 back in september '99. Every time he turns around to look for a job his mother gets sick. His student loan was not discharged because he went into repayment in 1994. This problem with his mother began in 1992. He has been unable to hold a job, because of her. The student loan organization wants 2000.00 up front and $300.00 a month on a $20,000.00 dollar outstanding loan. I don't want to marry him because I don't want his debt. He lives with his mother on their her social security check. Can he go back to his attorney and ask about filing an "undue hardship"?

Answer:   In your question you talk about Chapter 7. This is US law and I am not familiar with how the US bankruptcy system works. You will have to talk to a US bankruptcy specialist.
