Am in Ontario on a work transfer. Am out of Alberta. Was reassessed in taxes, and cannot sustain large debt load caused by many factors. Wish to declare bankruptcy. Should that be done in Alberta or Ontario? Also have almost no assets and am below the 50% figure. Is there a chance my bankrupcy would not be discharged? Thank you.

Bankruptcy should be filed in the province where you are currently living. Once it is filed you can move or return to another province if your work requires you to do so. In any bankruptcy creditors have the right to object to you being discharged. If that happens, the Court decides if you must pay additional funds or meet other requirements before the final discharge is granted.
