I have a debt that has gone to collections. The lady at the Collection agency that calls me can be very mean and insulting. She often will raise her voice and yell at me. I feel very uncomfortable talking to her. Am I able to ask for another agent to deal with? Do I have any other rights that are being violated in this situation?

You are certainly able to ask for another agent if you are uncomfortable
with the one calling you. Unfortunately, the next collector may not be
much better. If you feel a collector is acting unprofessionally you
should contact Alberta Consumer Affairs at 310-000 to make a formal
complaint. They can also advise you about what a collector can and
cannot do.
