Question:		I am currently a student and over the past couple of years I have run up a number of bills that I haven't been able to pay. Now one of the companies is threatening to sue me and I cannot afford the legal fees and I cannot afford to pay them outright so what is the best possible solution here? Please help me.

Answer:		Your best solution depends on the size of the outstanding debts and your ability to pay. If you can afford to pay 100% of the amounts owing over 4 years, you can contact Credit Counselling Services of Alberta (at 265-2201 in Calgary) regarding their Orderly Payment of Debt Program. If you have no ability to ever pay the full amount and owe more than $1,000, you may want to consider a bankruptcy or proposal.
