I am a self-employed, sole proprietor of a non-incorporated business. As a result of an audit several years ago, I am facing over 50,000 in CCRA debt including penalties and interest. Currently, I have a non-binding verbal re-payment arrangement with them which will result in this debt being paid in about 28 years. However, they still continue to demand more money from me. Do I have another option?

You are eligible for either a proposal or a bankruptcy, both of which are done through a Trustee. The best option for you will depend on your income and current circumstances and I'd suggest you call to make an appointment with a Trustee to discuss your situation. Alger and Associates Inc. (formerly Collins Barrow Limited) can be reached at 310-8888 in Alberta. We've had a lot of experience dealing with CCRA.
