We were bankrupt from Jan 2003 to Nov. 2003 in Alberta, the government is saying we owe 2000.00 for the 2003 tax season. I was under the impression that if any there was any outstanding balances on our taxes while in bankruptcy we would not have to pay it. Am I wrong?

Any tax debt owing at the date of filing (January 2003 in your case) is covered in the bankruptcy. You are responsible for any tax owing on income earned in the period after you made the assignment and before the discharge.
