Question:

My separated spouse signed off his name and title on the house but the house was not transferred to just my name until about 2 weeks after he filed for bankruptcy. (I did not know he did this until later)

The equity is below 40,000 and the trustee wants a paper showing the motgage balance as at the time of his filing. On his bankruptcy documents he listed the value for mortgage as value of the house. Should I at all be worried about losing my house because of his dates of actions?

Answer:

A trustee is not going to force you to sell your home. This problem is really your husband's and he will need to deal with his Trustee. If you want some reassurance you may wish to talk to your lawyer.
