Question:

I will meet with a Trustee soon. I will claim personal bankruptcy. Can I go out of country during these 9 months (visit somebody), I mean go and be back and after these 9 months move forever out of country?

Answer:

As long as you perform the required duties, you do not have to stay in Canada. The most difficult duty would be the two counseling sessions as only Canada has Insolvency Counsellors. You will need to make arrangements with your Trustee to have these done before you leave or by telephone if the Superintendent of Bankruptcy gives you permission.
