Question:

Are the laws of personal bankrupcy the same for all provinces? Could you direct me to a site where I can obtain advice for the Yukon or BC.

Answer:

The Bankruptcy Act is a federal act. However, the exemptions (property you are allowed to keep) vary with each province as property is a provincial jurisdiction.

I would suggest you look in the Superintendent of Bankrupt's website http://osb-bsf.ic.gc.ca. Also, each province should have a website of all their statutes. In Alberta, the Act is called the "Civil Enforcement Act".
