Question:

I am a single mother of two (ages 11 and 8), I am considering claiming bankruptcy, I am concerned I will not be able to keep my vehicle. I earn $26,000 anually, my debt is roughly $22,000 not including what is left on my car. My car is valued at est. $18,000 with est. $12,000 left owing. Is there any way I can claim bankruptcy and still keep my car? Thank you.

Answer:

Most lenders will allow you to keep paying on your vehicle as long as you are up to date when you file. There are some restrictions so you should speak to a Trustee regarding your particular circumstances.
