I owe 6,400 to the bank. I was not able to make my payments for a few months due to some personal issues that came up and now they are coming after me. How can I deal with this?

I'd first suggest that you contact the bank to discuss the situation and perhaps work out some payment arrangements. If you are unsuccessful you may want to consider the O.P.D. program through Credit Counselling Sevices of Alberta if this is your only debt. Finally, a proposal or bankruptcy is always an option for which you'd need to see a Trustee, such as Collins Barrow Limited.
