Question:

Please tell me how long the bankruptcy information remains on your credit history. My wife and I declared bankruptcy in February 1997 and final closure occured in November 1997. I understand that the status remains for seven years. Is this the case?

Thank you.

Answer:

We are advised that bankruptcy information should remain on your credit record for 6 years after you have been Absolutely Discharged from bankruptcy (14 years in the case of a second bankruptcy.) Please refer to the section Credit Rating on this website for additional information.
