Question:

I co-sign with my sister, my sister and her husband filed bankrupt, which I was not aware of it, no papers from the lawyer or from my sister and husband,in the mean time I am looking in the city paper and I see only my name in the papers set up for a bid on my property, it was filed in 2003, and here it is 2005 and I am just hearing about the bankrupts, my property is up for sell in less than a month time, and this is my first time hearing about the bankrupts. What steps can I take to keep my property.

Answer:

I'm not sure that the sale of the property is related to the bankruptcy - it may be a foreclosure. I'd suggest you talk to the bankruptcy Trustee or the lawyer handling the sale of the property.
