Question:

My ex-husband said he is claiming bankrupcy, however, there are bills that are in my name that he was supposed to put into his name only and hasn't done so. I have the divorce papers that say he was putting them in his name. If he claims, will I have to pay them?

Answer:   Unfortunately, unless the creditors released you from the debts, you are still liable for anything in your name. A divorce decree assigning debt to one person from another is not binding on creditors. You may wish to speak to your divorce lawyer about this matter.
