Question:   I want to file a bankruptcy, but I do not want my mother to know about it due to her ill health. I do owe her approx. $10,000 which she loaned me to put down on a house. (No equity). How can I file without her knowing?

When an individual files bankruptcy, they are required to list all debt owed. Your mother is a debt you owe. Do you have any other debt or is this the only debt?

However, there is nothing stopping you from gifting her the $10,000 after bankruptcy if she needs the money. This area is very complicated so you may want to call us for further info.
