Question:

 

Hi, I am 22, I have about $6000 in debt that is in collections, alberta health care is now wanting to take me to court over 450.00, I have no way to pay this, my parents are useless and I dont make enough, would it be worth it for me to claim bankruptcy or, should I just wait for the collections for fall off my credit history? WIll they ever? I have no idea what to do.

Answer:

 

If a creditor obtains a judgment against you, it will remain on your credit record for at least 10 years. The judgment can also be used to attach to your wages, assets and bank accounts. You might consider Orderly Payment of Debt or a bankruptcy if you want to deal with the debts and are unable to pay.
