Question:

In section 178, what is meant by "restitution order". And what kind of situations can result in a "restitution order". I read of a DJ who got a civil case against him for defamation and has to pay $300,000. Is that considered restitution? Can restitution result from civil cases and if so what kind?

Answer:

In general terms, a restitution order granted by the Court requires a person to repay funds to someone who has suffered damage, often because of fraud. If you need additional information I'd suggest you ask a lawyer.
