Question:

My boyfriend got this phone call from a credit company saying he owed 5 grand, he had forgotten about this account through a divorce, a few yers later now they caught up with him, his credit is awful, and a lawyer called hime the other night, he offered to pay 75.00 per month, the lawyer refused and said, we will just take you to court or garnish your wages, can they so this even though he offerd to make a payment, and if itdoes got court, can he get the attorneys fees waived?

Thank you.

Answer:

Offering or making a token payment does not stop a creditor from collecting the debt or taking legal action. The legal fee issue will have to be argued in Court when you attend.
