Question:

My friend was involved in a motor vehicle accident nearly 2 years ago which insurance did not cover. He has recently been sued for damages ($25,000); he also has some other credit debts to pay off. He is considering declaring bankruptcy and was wondering if it would absolve him of the debt he owes the people who sued him.

Answer:

It is possible that this debt would not be discharged by a bankruptcy. It may be best to speak to a lawyer regarding this issue.
