Donation to Local School
Electronic Recycling Association, Alger & Associates and Grant Thornton team up to donate to a local school
Chapter 47 of the Statutes of Canada
Amendments to the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA) and the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA). The legislative amendments are broadranging and significant, and are intended to achieve a number of goals. On September 18, 2009, the remaining amendments contained in chapter 36 of the Statutes of Canada, 2007, and chapter 47 of the Statutes of Canada, 2005 (c.36 and c.47) will come into force.
Bill C-55: Changes to Insolvency Legislation
Bill C-55 which is currently before the Canadian Parliament proposes a number of significant changes to Canadian federal insolvency legislation including the creation of significant wage earner protection. Alger is a member firm of the Canadian Association of Insolvency and restructuring Professionals and this association has provided extensive comment on the proposed legislative changes.
